Origami

The world is in a constant struggle for balance, a fight among the different forces of nature- all of which are moving through their own desired cycle. Not only is it in a constant struggle to maintain harmony and to keep things corresponding in itself, but it has to deal with us as well. Human existence is the biggest war the world will ever have to endure. This is not the kind of war that needs ammunition, or even sheds blood. This is a war based on ones conviction. A war that  is much bigger than we could ever fabricate. A war where every single person on earth has a role. A war that we have to fight. A war where there is no draw. This is a war were we have to understand and accept the sacredicity  of our planet Mother Earth and realize that it is the home to us all.

Earth is constantly providing and sustaining all life. There is no scarcity, only abundance and bounty. That is the natural state in which our planet needs to be in. It is also its true state. We have it all. Yet, we see the world as something big and indestructible, but in reality the world is fragile and has to be cared for. To represent this, my partner and I decided that we were going to make an origami tree. Trees are a symbol of antiquity and immense and enduring strength. When cared for, with love and affection, it can grow to be big and beautiful. Its body will  become deeply rooted into the ground of our sacred home and its crown will dance freely in the sky. However, if its mistreated it will remain frail and can easily be destroyed.

The elemental forces of nature are the manifestation of the elements of life. We have the air, water, fire, and wind. These elements are the manifestations that create and transform energy into matter- essentially creating life. We brought life to our tree by using a variety of warm and vibrant colors as its leaves. The leaves also work as our module as well because they are repeated over and over again. Also the frogs and birds we added would be considered a module as well because, in nature, modularity refers to the construction of a cellular organism by joining together standardized units to form larger compositions.

Symbolically, thought making the tree, we became part of earths balance because, every fold we created drew us closer and closer to fully growing our own tree. Through earth we receive energy, support, prosperity, and strength. We are never separate from Earth and its abundant energy. Everything we have is because of it. We are all in this together, we are one. Just remember to see the world through the eyes of love and acceptance. All is magnificent in my world. Why ruin it?
